Settings, plugins and help
Settings
File › Settings (Ctrl + ,) has five pages:
- General: language, autosave, whether SceneMill looks for a newer version at every start, the start picture and the first-steps tour.
- Folders: where projects, exported videos, saved pictures and recordings go. The export window starts in the folder for exported videos; choosing another folder there changes it here too.
- Editing: how long new photos, titles, transitions, effect clips and freeze frames are; snapping.
- Storage: how much space render files may take, and SceneMill's own folders.
- Performance: proxies for the preview, decoding on the graphics card, rendering heavy parts by itself, effect previews on click, and what SceneMill found on this PC.
Edit › Keyboard Shortcuts changes any shortcut.
Plugins
Plugins add effects. Help › Plugins installs a plugin file, shows what each holds, and switches plugins on or off (from the next start). Plugins are programs that run inside SceneMill: install only plugins from people you trust. A paid plugin needs the license you received when buying it: paste it under Enter License...; the plugin then shows who it is licensed to. Free effects: the Big Pack.
Updates
At start SceneMill asks scenemillofficial.com whether there is a newer version and offers to install it, usually only the few files that changed. Help › Check for Updates asks at any time. A copy from the Microsoft Store is updated by the Store.
When something goes wrong
- Help › Report a Problem sends a description, with screenshots or a short video if you like. You see exactly what is sent before it goes.
- Help › Give Feedback for ideas and wishes.
- Help › Diagnostics lists the graphics cards, decoders and encoders SceneMill found; Open Log Folder shows its logs.
- Help › Clear Thumbnail Cache if pictures in the libraries look wrong.
